Hi Everyone,

WELCOME TO December/January!

Can you hear the clock ticking? The holidays and a new year are knocking at the door. This year has been tough in a lot of areas for me, so I'm looking forward to a new year and a new start. One big Christmas wish for me is to find that missing creative mojo! I also want to do a lot more pages for myself in addition to the designing.

Great layouts in response to last challenge! This is such a fun challenge to run, everyone is so creative and I love all the different takes on the layouts each month.

This time I chose Merry-Christmas-Miles by the51mom. I love her photo placement and the clustering of lots of elements! And of course I love that she used my Retro Christmas kit to do the layout. Lots of inspiration here!

Time flies by faster than I can keep up with. We are now finally getting into fall here and I'm loving it. Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons. I love the changes and the nice weather. We've had more than our share of rain lately, but the trees will be changing soon and I can't wait to see all the colors.

WOW, time flies! I can't believe it's time to post a new challenge. The summer here has been very busy and doesn't show any signs of letting up as college starts the end of this month. I'm trying to figure out how my son jumped from Kindergarten to college in a blink because that's how it feels. I apologize I've been sort of absent from the challenge, hopefully I'll keep up with it better this time around. I've been searching all over and can't seem to find my creative mojo. If anyone has seen it, I'd love to have it back.

Color Inspiration ....

Inspired by some links our designer group was sharing yesterday, I created this palette of colors from a recent photo of my spring daffodils.

Wouldn't these colors make a pretty scrapbook kit? I'm definitely saving this for a future kit.

I haven't been very good about blogging lately. Things have been busy with the end of Ollie's senior year drawing near. My creative mojo has been playing peek-a-boo and I haven't really done much design stuff. On the other hand, I have been working on pages for Ollie's scrapbook. Slow going, but I have had much more creative mojo doing layouts than designing. I really haven't been very inspired to sit at the computer much at home either.

Probably time to dust off my word for the year

I need to focus on getting on a better routine with designing, advertising, blogging, etc. I need to get back into a better routine of going to the gym and paying better attention to what I eat. I want to continue to work on pages for Ollie's scrapbook. It's so hard to believe that he's graduating high school and headed to college in the fall!

In the meantime, I hope you find some inspiration from my daffodils. After the long snowy winter, the spring renewal feels especially good this year (except for the pollen and allergies!).

Is it spring where you are yet? We are struggling to find it here, winter just does not want to give up. Fortunately we did not wake up to snow this morning as predicted, instead just a cold "thick" rain (meaning big fat rain drops with some flakes mixed in here and there). Regardless, the spring bulbs are starting to make an appearance and I believe the daffodils will bloom in the next days. Come on Spring!!

This time I chose Sweet Sixteen by Maggie965.

With my son's senior prom coming up, this layout is perfect to scraplift and showcase some of the pictures. And yes, it may look familiar because this is actually her take on the last Scraplift. I love the way she turned it to suit her photos an ended up with a different and unique take on the last challenge. SO, even though it's a scraplift of a scraplife, I think it's just perfect for this month. The black background and vibrant colors are stunning. LOVE it! Accepted Students Day .....

We got to go to college yesterday. It was Admitted Students Day @ FDU. We also attended the Scholars Reception. Was a great day to visit the campus again. I think it really solidified things for Ollie. So much so that he had to have a FDU t-shirt and this little guy just had to come home with us.

I think we are ready to send his deposit this week and then hold on for the ride!

Baby Mittens .....

Found this photo I had scanned a while back lurking in my files. I miss my Mittens! She was a gift from my boyfriend (and roommate) on the 4th of July in 1989 when I was living in Seattle. Such a tiny little thing about 6 weeks old. She was with us until January of 2005. She was my baby before Ollie came along. Even though we have six fur-babies now and I wouldn't trade any one of them .... well I still miss my little girl.

Journaling reads: Look at that sleeping kitty. Can you find her mousie? Playing with him must have tuckered her out.

We are having quite a winter here in New Jersey! I know many others around the country are also. We've already logged about 5 feet of snow so far for the season and we have 2 months of winter left. The first day of February we are receiving lots of snow and sleet. I don't know about you, but I'm dreaming of spring!

College Visits .....

Six snow storms in the last 30 days .....

Yikes! Winter has a good grip on us here. I can't believe how much snow we've gotten in the last 30 days. All total is probably over 5 feet now. We've had very little melt so the backyard is a frozen zone with up to 4 feet in places. My poor rosebushes are buried and probably wondering what they did to deserve this crazy winter. Good news is we should have a beautiful spring (if it ever arrives..... since we have 2 more months of winter left) due to all of the "poor man's fertilizer". I think of Mr. Blinky who used to live next door ever time it snows. He would always be delighted about the poor man's fertilizer and how our flowers would be beautiful when the weather got warm. I miss him!

Our latest storm brought us a good 18 inches. Spent the morning shoveling out and then worked from home. School was closed so Ollie got to sleep in a while and hang out for the day at home. He's working this evening but the roads seem to look pretty good so he'll do good.

You can't see the steps and upper terrace any more in the backyard. As you can see, it almost comes to the top of the retaining wall. The wire frames are behind my buried roses.

View up the front walk. We are running out of "real estate" for the piles of snow. Some of our piles are as tall as me and make shoveling difficult when you have to heave the snow up above your head.

We had three of these little guys watching us shovel. I think they were searching for food. I filled all the bird feeders and put them out.

Think I might be ready for spring!

Little Bit O' Winter ....

Well I don't know about you, but we are having more than a Little Bit O' Winter around here! It's been cold and we've had lots of snow already. We ended 2010 with a huge snowstorm the day after Christmas. Another one last Friday and we are looking at more Tuesday night into Wednesday. At the rate we are going (since we still have a foot in spots from the 1st storm) it's looking like a long time before we see the bare ground again. I actually love the snow for the most part (ok shoveling and driving it it not so much). I got to work from home on Friday though and it ended up being a super productive day. I love working from home in my jammies without all the interruptions of the office.

Working on a new kit with DeDe for Sisters by Heart. Need to finish up my part for the Scraplift Challenge in February. Can't decide what to work on for my next kit after that. I'm going to continue to work on my Christmas kit and the one with DeDe but probably won't release them until either Christmas in July or next December. Any requests as to what I work on next?

For 2011 I have chosen the word focus. I want to focus on what's really important and to also be better at focusing on the task at hand. Have you chosen a word for 2011? What is your word and why? What will you do to remind yourself of your word and follow through?

Ollie liked the word Wisdom when I was going over my ideas with him. Maybe wisdom is my secondary word for the year.

There's so much going on and I just can't seem to keep up on any level. I think I need two of me or something.

Lots of thoughts in my head that I want to share, just need to catch up on some Christmas stuff and then hopefully I'll get more blog and design time. One thing I want to explore in the coming year is capturing more stories and memories. Also, I've been very inspired by Ro's gratitude posts .... I want to post some of my own.

In the meantime, ever run across a picture that cracks you up? I found this one in the photos from one of the snowstorms last winter. I think Ollie and Don went around town and took some pictures. This must have been one they took because surely I would have remembered it! LOL

Gives a whole new thought to being too busy and short on time. hehe

Haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just been super busy with Ollie's 18th birthday, the approaching holiday season and the high school hockey season starting. I have also been working on our family tree which Ollie is very interested in right now. It is a fun and interesting process but very time consuming.

Working on a Christmas kit with DeDe for Sisters by Heart and one from me. Also hoping to revamp my New Years Jewels kit and participate in a holiday blog train at the end of the month.

You must have a sense of humor to live in our house! LOL

I don't know what I would do without the wonderful and talented Beth! She's really kept me going lately on my designs and is such an inspiration and fun to work with. Of course I send her the new kit and she immediately turns out a gorgeous layout. I can't thank her enough for all she does!

Ever get sidetracked by life? That's sure what happened to me last week. Ollie is very interested in our family history so he and I jumped back into researching our family tree. I forgot how all consuming it is when you start searching and finding branches of the family. We made some great progress and found lots of fun and interesting things. There is so much more to be done though. It's really one of those projects I'm not sure you ever finish because it just grows and grows and grows. Of course it's really tough to keep track of when families had 12 and 13 kids and named all of them the same names.

Anyhow, long story short I got so involved that I didn't finish the previews and get Teal Appeal into the store until today even though I was done with everything but the previews last Monday.

Isn't my new Ollie Doll cute? I love love love him! He's a custom doll by Traci Reed. You can find information about getting one of your own here. I don't usually advertise for another digital site other than my own, but these are so unique and I've already found lots of uses for him. He's been printed on magnet paper and is hanging on my fridge. He's also part of my October wallpaper. I'm sure he'll be popping up in many scrapbook pages and might make a nice addition to family members fridges too!

Boy oh boy am I glad for Friday this week! Wishing we had tickets and going to the Devils opening game tonight. Oh well, I'll just have to take command of the remote and watch it at home.

Not sure what the weekend plans are, but I'm sure there is more than enough stuff that needs to get done to keep me more than busy. Last of the apple pie went last night so I know that's on my list to make the boys another one.

Busy busy busy .... definitely heading into crazy busy time for us. College applicatons, visits and the high school hockey season is approaching. Plus tons of apples that need to be made into sauce, pies, etc. Not to mention with the weather getting cooler I LOVE to cook this time of year. Always fun to have time to play in my kitchen. I like when the boys have things to do and I can put on some music, take my time and play.

Found out that we are going to be on the hook for about $2000 for my surgery. That's with us having good health insurance, I shudder to think of what it would be without our insurance. Of course it's scary with that, college tuition (not to mention the though of college tuition next year!), and tution for the varsity hockey season coming up. Eeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk

It's a super tough market right now for selling my designs. I may have to consider a part time job in addition to my regular job. I love designing, but I gotta be able to pay the bills. Hopefully the economy will improve and things will improve the the world of digital scrapbooking. There are other design things I'd love to do as well but finding a foothold in the market is hard.

Hoping to figure things out .... what to do.... what to do.....

In the meantime, I'm working on some new design stuff. I really want to get some of my own scrapbooking done as well.

If anyone needs any design work, please let me know. I'm always open to a new challenge. I'd love to get into more custom print work, custom kits, custom albums, etc. I've done different jobs for friends and family and would love to figure a way to do more and help out with some bills too.

Time to get back to the grind. Don't forget the Birthday Bash @ Digitals is still going on through Friday. Lots of really great grab bags and a huge storewide sale. Busy busy busy..... seems like it's always busy! It's raining like crazy today and I'm wishing I were home curled up with a good book. It's just one of those curl up, read and be cozy kind of days.

Spent last weekend in Hershey. We had tickets to see Nickelback on Saturday night. Weekend started out rough for me as I caught hubby's cold and started feeling bad on Thursday. By Friday and Saturday I was one miserable chickie. But as they say, "The Show Must Go On!" .... dinner Friday at our favorite Mexican place out there. Saturday we hit the outlet stores, goofed off and had a late lunch/early dinner at The Bears Den. The concert was AMAZING as always! Openers this time were Buckcherry and Three Days Grace. Both were excellent, but Three Days Grace is better on their album. The lead guy talks too much when performing live. Concert started at 6:30 and ended at 11:00. Good times!

Still haven't made it apple picking yet. Ollie has to work this weekend so I guess we are going to have to go without him.

Speaking of Ollie working, his boss got him tickets to the Devils preseason game against the Islanders tomorrow night! I'm soooooo excited! It was only 2 tickets so we bought an extra ticket online. Not only is the first Devils game we've been to since they moved to the new arena, my favorite player is back. I will be dragging out and dusting off my Arnott jersey and horns for our outing tomorrow night. Can't wait .... LOVE LOVE LOVE HOCKEY SEASON!

WOW, it's been a crazy busy and very long week. I couldn't be happier that Friday is here.

Work has been insane after being out for a week. I've been back for two weeks now and I'm still drowning. I'm working my rear off to get caught up though. Hopefully next week I get where I need to be with everything. At least I finally got August closed so I can catch up September.

Went to the surgeon on Wednesday and they were suprised and lectured me for returning to work so soon. They would have rather I not gone back until this coming Monday. Can you imagine how far I would have been behind by then? Of course pushing so hard is why I'm still as sore as I am and so terribly tired. Good news is this week was much better than last week so I think I've definitely turned the corner. The pathology came back clean so that was terrific news. I can ease back into going to the gym, but no weights or core work for another couple of weeks. No lifting stuff at home for another couple of weeks either. Thank goodness the boys have been good about hauling the laundry basket up and down the stairs for me.

Went with Ollie to a college fair at Fairleigh Dickinson University last night. WOW, talk about overwhelming ... there was table after table and row after row of colleges there. Colleges are like ice rinks, you don't realize how many are out there until you start really looking. We got some good information from a number of the colleges he's interested in, as well as some we found along our trips up and down the rows. He's already been bombarded by mail from colleges, this ought to ramp it up good! LOL Good news is that with his high SAT scores and GPA kit looks like he could be in for some good scholarship $$ at some of the schools he's looking at. That would be fantastic! Time to make a list and start visits and the application process.

My house is a mess and I need to do a serious cleaning. Unfortunately I think pushing that might be a bad idea and I'm going to have to try and wait another week or two before I can really get done everything that needs to be taken care of. Maybe I'll be able to get a little of done over the weekend. I was hoping to go apple picking on Sunday, but Ollie is working 9-5 tomorrow and 12-4 on Sunday and I don't really want to go without him (he doesn't want us to go without him either). We will have to figure something out.

Can I tell you the leaves started turning overnight last night? Yesterday everything was green with no hint of color, this morning on the way to work I could see a little fall color here and there. LOVE that! Maybe I will talk hubby into a drive either tomorrow or Sunday to see if there is more color further north.

Working on some design stuff. Digitals B'day bash is coming up and I'm trying to get together a blog freebie, grab bag and get the bonus for the scraplift challenge done. Stay tuned for details!

WELCOME TO September!

I apologize for the super last posting of this challenge. August 30th I went to the emergency room with pains in my side that had gotten worse over several days. I ended up having emergency gall bladder removal surgery and am just now getting up and about. I can't believe how fast the summer went. My son started school on September 2nd and it's amazing to realize that he's a senior this year.

Great layouts in response to last months challenge! This is such a fun challenge to run, everyone is so creative and I love all the different takes on the layouts each month.

This month I chose 1961 Tupper Lake by lisar. This layout is FANTASTIC. The journaling, the cluster of photos, everything! Tons of inspiration here!

You can find this layout here. You can also find her gallery here. Be sure and check out her gallery for one beautiful layout after another. I sure hope you'll stop by and leave her some love.

I hope you can find some inspiration in this layout to scraplift. Be sure to include at least three items by Digitals designers in your layout to be eligible for the prize.

Well, after emergency gall bladder surgery on August 30th, I'm starting to feel at least a little human again. I'm super behind on everything and need to catch up.... but hoping to have some layouts, info, etc. posted shortly.

Say it isn't so! I never got around to posting my August wallpaper, but I guess better late than never.

Don and I finally made it back to the balloon festival this year. Ollie went to the shore for the day with friends so we went to the early morning launch without him. We had to be there by 6:30 a.m. but it was well worth getting up at 4:30 to do it. The balloons as always were beautiful. It was super hot that day so it was good to walk around and get everything done early. Then we took our time driving back and ended up having a really nice day.

Work has been insane and upside down lately. Seems like everything else too... just can't seem to find a good groove these days.....

Can't believe that school starts next week and Ollie starts his senior year. Where did the time go? It's sad to think I'll be taking the last of his "first day of school" pictures.

Ah well lots to get done, better get to it!

WELCOME TO August!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. The weather here has been hot this year and it seems the summer is zooming by faster than I can keep up with. School is right around the corner and I'm not sure I'm ready to face Ollie's senior year yet.

Great layouts in response to last months challenge! This is such a fun challenge to run, everyone is so creative and I love all the different takes on the layouts each month.

This month I chose No Words Needed by mystampin. Ok, not only do I LOVE that she used my kit, it's wonderful how the kit looks like it was made for this photo. The best thing about this layout is all the layering of the papers and elements. It's gorgeous! There is loads of inspiration here!

Time flies when you're running around trying to get everything in order for vacation! Everything is packed, my desk is clean, the house/cat sitter is all set up and we hit the road this afternoon. I'm so excited to get away, especially to the beach for lots of fun and relaxation.

The week has flown by and boy am I glad it's Friday!

Ollie has taken a huge interest in the World Cup so far. It's funny because he played soccer (both travel and rec) and loved it until he started playing hockey. He dropped soccer immediately and never looked back. It's interesting to see him showing an interest again all the sudden. Although he loves any type of world competition. He loves both summer and winter olympics. Watched this past winter olympics every chance he got. He's got a list of who he wants to see win for World Cup. It should come as no suprise that England is his top and ultimate pick. Kid loves everything to do with England.

Tonight we are going to see the Scorpions at the PNC Arts Center. I couldn't believe when Ollie started telling me all about this great group that is doing a farewell tour. I laughed when he told me who because I loved them years and years ago when I was a kid. I remember visiting Dad when I was 13 and going to the beach for family camp out. I had their Blackout album on tape and listened to it over and over and over again while laying in the sun on the beach. Ollie's teacher told him not to be surprised if instead of "Rock You Like a Hurricane", they are more now like a rain storm or sprinkle! LOL Should be a good concert, I'm excited to go.

Ollie has spring hockey playoffs this weekend. Between those, the concert, Father's Day and one of his friends graduation party .... it's gonna be a busy weekend. Also need to start packing some stuff for our trip to Myrtle Beach. We've had a list going for months now so it should be pretty easy to start putting together. We got smart this year and got a carrier thing for the roof to put the beach chairs, etc. in. Will make packing the other stuff in the car easier.

Ok.... off to finish things up so that I can get out of here on time today. I'm off on Monday since it's the last day of school (1/2 day) and Ollie and I have a tradition to uphold. Figure since Don is home too that we'll do lunch and a movie or something this year.

Woke and discovered it was Monday. How did that happen???

Not sure where the last week went either. Guess I was either too busy, or just didn't have anything to say. LOL

Weekend was good and of course definitely not long enough. Ollie took his final SAT Saturday before last and has finals this week. I know he's looking forward to a little down time.

My mojo appears to be hiding on me again. Anyone seen it???????

It's been a long and crazy week! I'm glad the weekend is here and I'm hoping for a better one that the last one. I think we are having some major "growing pains" and adjustments with hubby's "retirement". Hopefully we get it figured out and everyone finds a happy medium.

Hoping our next big house project will be to finish up the siding on the outside. It's a definite eyesore and I'm surprised that our neighbors haven't seriously complained by now. I know hubby wants to tackle Ollie's room, but he really wants it to wait until SAT/finals, etc. and school is out before we start displacing him and his room. Ollie knows how long the dining room took and I think it makes him a little nervous. I can understand that, but his room really is a paint job, baseboard and a new ceiling fan. I think if we work hard at it, we could have it done in a couple of days ... week max.

Counting down the days until vacation! I can't wait to get away and enjoy the beach and sunshine. We have a running list going of what we need to take with. Finally broke down and bought a carrier bag for the roof so that we can put the chairs and beach stuff up there instead of overpacking inside the truck. Trying to plan what kind of kitchen things we need to take. I want to make sure that hubby enjoys himself and gets to cheat some, but we do need to watch his sugar so we'll need to plan our eating more carefully than usual. Hoping we will get some gym time in, plenty of swimming and lots and lots of walking on the beach.

Have it all set up for someone to house and cat sit. Glad that's taken care of so we have no worries about that.

WELCOME TO June!

Wow, summer is sneaking in fast as the school days here wind down. It's getting plenty hot and everything is growing like crazy. Can't wait until we have all those fresh veggies from the garden.

Great layouts in response to last months challenge! This is such a fun challenge to run, everyone is so creative and I love all the different takes on the layouts each month.

Every month I set aside and mark as layouts I might want to use for the scraplift challenge but I always take a fresh cruise through recent layouts before choosing one. As I went browsing this morning this layout jumped out immediately and screamed "pick me... pick me"! It's a fantastic layout with so many fun elements to it, great movement and perfect colors for the photo. This month I chose Jessica & Ethan by snowowl551. There is loads of inspiration here!

The dining room is finished and it's gorgeous! A few things to put away yet and need to rehang the pictures on the wall. Everything else is done 100%. Hubby did a fantastic job (me too for the stuff I helped with)! It's really really nice.

Got the house put somewhat back together and the worst of it cleaned up. Needs more TLC, but I'll get it done.

Tough weekend..... some prayers headed our way would be appreciated.

It's Thursday ....

.... and I'm exhausted beyond measure! It was well into the 90's yesterday and actually over 100 in the sun. Someone in our house (obviously not me ☺) has not decided that it's acceptable to turn on the air conditioners yet. Mind you, all they need is for someone to push the button, they are in and ready to go. Anyhow, downstairs was around 90 degrees last night which means the upstairs was probably pushing 100 or more. After tossing, turning, sweating and being more than miserable for a couple of hours after going to bed I finally gave up and headed downstairs. I turned the fan on high and spent the rest of the night trying to get a little sleep in my recliner along with an ice pack wrapped in a kitchen towel. I think I might have snoozed off and on for about 3 hours. I am one very tired chickie today and sore from a night spent in the recliner instead of bed.

I don't get it, why suffer? I understand it's going to be cooler over the weekend with the nights being much cooler.... so turn the air off then .... why is it always an issue? Yeah yeah... I hear how we don't really need air, he grew up without it, blah blah blah. Bottom line in my thinking is that life is too short to be miserable. Call me a wimp, call me a wuss, whatever name you want... I don't like to be hot and uncomfortable. It makes me miserable and unhappy. I'm not into extreme temperatures and just don't handle them well. I don't think that makes me a bad person, just not something I'm good at dealing with. Unfortunately I'm not sure tonight is going to be much better. It's not as hot out today but it takes forever for the house to cool off after getting that bad. It was still 85 downstairs this morning.

Ok, done venting ...... I wish I handled temperature extremes better and they didn't make me so miserable. Blah

In other news, the floor is almost finished! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Crown molding went up last Friday and was completed on Saturday. It looked a little sketchy at first, but with some fills and touch up painting it looks gorgeous! Hubby did a fantastic job and I know it wasn't easy. I believe he said something about crown molding and NEVER EVER again! Now that the floor is almost complete he just has to get it finished and the baseboard down. I'll do the final touch ups and we can put everything back where it belongs. It looks really really good and I know we are going to enjoy it for many many years to come. In the end it will be worth all the hard work and the mess in the house.

Hopefully the next projects will take on the siding and we'll get a chance to finally finish what was started almost 8 years ago. LOL... I think the neighbors would be happy with that too.

Ohhhhh I need to take pictures and post. You should see our lawn.... it's gorgeous! Hubby has been fertilizing, seeding and working very hard on it lately. Between all his work and my flower beds which get better and better each year .... it's pretty nice and impressive looking in the Oliver yard these days. My roses are blooming very nice too. Started out the season with a little black spot which I need to treat. Unfortunately some cold nights and hubby forgot he's not supposed to water them got us in a little trouble right away. They are looking better though and I think it's going to be a good rose year. Some of the blooms have been huge. Hubby's garden is looking nice too. He's growing tomatoes, cucumbers, yellow summer squash, green beans, lima beans, bell peppers (green, red and yellow), jalepeno peppers, basil, radishes and beets. I can't wait for the fresh veggies! We also have raspberries and strawberries.

Ok, back to the grind. I'm alone in the office this week and have been buried in work. Trying to get some design time in, working on a kit that I'm really having fun with. Doesn't have a name yet, maybe I should hold a "Name this Kit" contest.

Great news in our house yesterday! Ollie got a 1950 with his first attempt at the SAT. That's super good considering the max is 2400 and average is 1500. Super good scores and almost a perfect score in the critical reading section and an 11 out of 12 on his essay in the writing section. We are sooooo proud of him! He will study on any problem areas in the next couple of weeks and retake the first weekend in June. Congratulations on a super first score Ollie!

Not great pictures, but here are a couple showing the new yellow walls in the dining room. You really can't see how pretty the yellow color is in the photos. Hopefully today is crown molding day and that the floor gets laid this weekend. If it does and the baseboard gets put down, I can finally put everything back where it belongs and clean my house. Believe me, you'll hear the shout of joy when that happens! ☺

Busy weekend ahead with work on the house and Ollie has two games tonight.

Happy Humpy Day .....

Yep, I'm still here. Just buried deep in work, stuff at home, etc. I certainly could use more hours in the day, but then again I'm ready to collapse now so I'm not sure I could handle more hours in the day without a nap here and there.

Dining room has been torn apart for over 2 months now with all it's pieces and parts all over the house. Most significantly the china cabinet in my very small hallway. Passing through the hallway requires going down sideways and sometimes as a contortionist. We also have the table apart so are eating in the living room which I'm not a big fan of. Good news is that the walls are finally painted. Next the crown molding goes up and then FINALLY the new floor. It's the floor that started this whole process. See the photo I took here where we took the subfloor down to the original tongue and groove and put a new one in. The finished floor is a solid bamboo and is going to be gorgeous. We put a new beadboard ceiling up and it's painted a semi-gloss white along with the trim, baseboard and crown molding. The walls are a daffodil yellow and it's all going to be so nice when we are done. Sooooo.... crown molding, new floor, baseboard ... touch ups and then the furniture goes back. Hooray!

Don wants to start Ollie's room next (new ceiling fan and paint). I think Ollie wants to wait until school is out. He retakes his SATs in early June and has finals coming up. Me? I'd love to have the house back to "normal" and get everything cleaned up before taking on another inside project. I'm hoping he will tackle the outside siding which has gone on way too long. It's time to get it done. After school is out and we come back from the beach we can get Ollie's room done in hopefully a few days.

Ok... back to the piles and piles of things to get done.

WOW, Monday rushed up on me this week. Weekend flew by with so many things to do.

Friday night Ollie had a spring hockey game. He's on a scoring streak with goals and assists in the last three games in a row. He's really working hard and playing well. We are so proud of him.

He has two AP tests this week, AP Biology today and AP World History on Thursday. They are scored 1-5 and if he gets a 3 or above he will get a college credit for the class. Some colleges only accept a 4 or 5, but most will take 3 or above. He took a practice Bio on Friday and got a 4 so we are hoping. I told him this morning that I smell a 5.... hehe

Speaking of being proud of him, one of his best friends (Scott) is Jewish and his younger brother's Bar Mitzvah was on Saturday. Ollie wasn't invited to the party because it was for friends of Jake, not Scott. However, Scott did invite Ollie to come to the service on Saturday if he wanted. Now most teenagers would have said NO WAY. The service is hours long and if you aren't Jewish and don't understand Hebrew it can be tedious to sit there. But because he's so close to their family (the mother tells me all the time that Ollie is her adopted son), he got up early on Saturday, dressed in a shirt and tie, picked up Scott's girlfriend for him and went to the service. I'm very proud of him for being a good friend. He was also invited to their house yesterday morning for a brunch. While it was hard for me to share him on Mother's Day, I let him go to his "surrogate family" for brunch. LOL

Mother's Day was wonderful. The boys gave me a Nook! I love it. I've been out of bookshelf space for a long time and have books stacked everywhere. I love to read and will re-read books over and over if I like them. This is a perfect solution for me and also makes it easy to take it with me on the go. I see people reading at the gym on the treadmill, but I'm not sure that would work for me. I still love printed books, but this is much more practical for me right now. I will probably continue to collect my Stephen King books in hardback, but I'll purchase ebooks now for anything I would normally buy a paperback copy of.

Working on my next kit... it's too early yet to know how it's going. I also have a bunch of kits in progress that I need to go through and decide what to work on and finish. Also on the list is going through a lot of my old contributions to mega kits for stores I was in before. I want to rework the pieces and add to them to put out some complete kits or mini kits.

Ok, so it hasn't been a good Friday so far! Boss man blew up his laptop and it now has the blue screen of death. I've been through tons of diagnostics and even tried a re-format and re-install of the operating system and it looks like he's done it in good. So his mission now is to get to Best Buy to buy a new one and get it back here so I can get it ready for him before I leave today at 2:30. Yeahhhhhh ... not looking like I'm going to be leaving on time. Blahhhhhh ... NOT the way I wanted to start the weekend. Oh well, I do have to be out of here at a reasonable time. Ollie has a game tonight and I'm not missing it!

I've been trying to move everything from my portable drive over to the new one the boys gave me for my birthday. I had maxed out the space on the old one (320 GB), so they gave me a cute little 1 TB one. Of course it takes forever to move things around. I want all my design stuff on it as well as all our photos so that I can design scrap no matter what computer I'm using. I have a big external that I will keep it backed up to so that I don't lose anything. So, long story short I've gotten our photos on the new drive and will start getting the design stuff there next. I love looking through old photos. I have a ton of them I need to do for Ollie's scrapbook. Here's a favorite photo of him from 1998 that I need to do a page for. He's such a cutie!

Ok, back to work for me. Hopefully I get everything done and out of here at a reasonable time. We have a busy weekend ahead.

Put together a desktop wallpaper for May using one of the pages from the Twilight Dreams Bracket Album and additional items from the Twilight Dreams kit. Ollie had some fun times with his friends during spring break and e-mailed me a bunch of the pictures they posted on Facebook. This is one from an evening a group of them spent hanging out, making a fire in the fire pit, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. Fun times... fun memories!

I can't believe it's Monday. The weekend flew by so fast ... I feel like I've been left in the dust! Ollie took his SAT on Saturday. Came home feeling pretty good about it. He also had a fantastic game on Friday night with a goal and 3 assists!

Renovations on the dining room are continuing but very slowly. We did get the crown molding for the ceiling this weekend and I primed it all yesterday. The ceiling is up and hubby was sinking the nails and filling. He also filled all the holes, etc. on the walls. Next is sanding and cleaning it up so I can get the ceiling primed and painted. After that paint for the walls and trim. Solid bamboo floor goes in after the bulk of the painting is done. Since it's been apart for well over a month and a half now, I CANNOT wait to put everything back where it belongs and get the house back in order again.

Crazy hot weather yesterday. We don't have the air conditioners ready for the summer yet so it was a miserable night last night. 85 degrees downstairs and probably about 95 degrees upstairs. When I was still awake at 1:00 a.m. and couldn't get comfortable I got a fan from the basement and spent the rest of the night in the recliner tossing and turning. I might have managed 2 hours of sleep total. My boss commented that I looked super tired the minute I walked in this morning. Hopefully it either cools off today or we get the air conditioning ready to turn on!
