Happy New Year!

It's New Year's eve and we are enjoying a quiet evening here waiting for the ball to drop. I look forward to 2009 and hope for wonderful things this year.

I even got a layout done today... the first one in a while and it was nice (and fun) to get done. I'm going to put together a scrapbook for this season for Ollie. It will be paper and digital as I want to incorporate the programs, etc. from the games.

Ollie's Varsity coach has been on a kick lately about everything being "huge". This game is huge... this practice is huge... this shift is huge... The kids are alwaying around saying "this is huge" and laughing about it. When we were talking about it earlier, this layout popped into my head. I'll add it to his scrapbook for this season.
Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Huge Hugs!

Running through ....

Whew, finally finished our Christmas card! I'm super late, but at least they'll go out pretty quickly now that it's done. I had more ideas for it, but I'm simply out of time to keep changing it around.

The stockings are two out of a set of stockings I did trying to put together a new kit. However, I've got tons of stuff to finish for Christmas so the kit is on hold.

I took tomorrow off so I can finish up my shopping and get some things done. I took apart the living room and gave it a thorough cleaning on Sunday before we put the tree in there. Hubby is putting the lights on now. Hopefully Ollie and I will have time tomorrow evening to do the ribbon (or garland... I haven't decided yet) and ornaments. I need to take the box of nutcrackers downstairs so he can put the rest of them in the front window. I'll have to take a picture when it's all done, we have TONS of nutcrackers. All the way from about an inch high to one that's about 4 feet.

Lots to catch up on, I'll work on being a better blogger once I get the holiday under control.

Enjoy the season!

FLHS 1st Varsity Game of the Season

The stat girls came by last night and decorated the houses of the Varsity players for tonight's game. They also baked brownies and gave each player a tin of brownies with their number on it and "Good Luck Players Name" written on the top. They did such a great job and it was really sweet of them to do that for the players. Needless to say Ollie was over the moon about it. He's so excited about tonight's game. It's his first "official" varsity game as a regular varsity player. Disregard the #25 on the poster... that's his temporary number (we think) until the jerseys come in. However, there may be a dispute with his #69 (why do people have to have their heads in the gutter?) ... so he may be making a number change. We are waiting to hear on it.

Go Cutters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's going to be a tough season for this team, but with hard work hopefully good things will happen for them. I hope to report back tomorrow with good news.

Go Ollie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 2008 ~ Scraplift Challenge @ Digitals

Fantastic job to everyone who participated in November's challenge. The response was wonderful and everyone did such a beautiful job. This is such a fun challenge to run, I love everyone's creativity.

This month I chose a layout entitled "Merry Christmas Miles" by the51mom who was assigned to me as a CT last month. She's absolutely fantastic and I can tell you that I adore her layouts and appreciate so much the job she did with my kits (we are really lucky to have such a great CT team here at Digitals!). I really love the tons of elements layered on this layout.

You can find this layout here. You can also find her gallery here. Be sure to check it out, I could have picked any one of her layouts for a lift.

I hope you can find some inspiration in this layout to scraplift. Be sure to include at least three items by Digitals designers in your layout to be eligible for the prize.

When you've completed your layout, post it to the Scraplift Gallery, then come back and post a link to your page to this thread. This gives us all a chance to oooh and aaah over your layout. It will also help me to make sure that I don't miss sending out anyone's posting bonus.

Here is a preview of your prize this month.

Have fun and I can't wait to see what you do with this challenge!

----------------

To participate in the challenge, the thread for it can be found here. Be sure to check out all the challenges at Digitals each month to pick up pieces to a full mega kit by the fabulous designers!

TGIF!!!

Whew... I'm happy for Friday this week! Ok... I'm happy for Friday every week.

How do you like the updated blog header and colors? I used the new kit for the header and am pleased with how it came out. I love changing up my blog on a regular basis. I also change out my wallpaper and screen colors on the computer every month. I don't think I ever posted my November wallpaper, so here it is.

We got news this week that the high school league is requiring neck guards this season. This protects the players neck against skate lacerations. Unfortunately they have never been enforced because lacerations are so rare and the neck guards are so uncomfortable. We took Ollie to our favorite pro shop earlier this week and the good news is we found something he's pretty comfortable with. It's an under armour type shirt made by Itech with a higher neck (sort of like a mock turtle) that is made with kevlar. It's much more comfortable than the traditional neck guard and has the certification stitched right on it. We sent the information to coach and he's already approved it as fitting within the requirements. That makes Ollie a happy camper!
Ok, so I'm much more nervous about his high school tryouts this weekend than he is. Tryouts are tomorrow and Sunday morning. They are going to be skating at the Prudential Center where the Devils play. Hopefully I'll be back here on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning with good news!
Have a great weekend!

Sneak peek ....

Here's a sneak peek at the kit that is finished but doesn't have a name yet. I've sent it to a dear friend and am hoping she gets some inspiration from it. You should see Ollie's list of suggestions... there were some great ones but I just can't seem to get the right feel for this kit. It's funny, usually I design with a theme of some sort in mind, this one was just a random color palette that developed into a kit. I'm pretty pleased with the results, now if I can just name it! Once it has a name, it won't take long to get in the store.

In other news, the travel season is over. Ollie ended the last game of the travel season with a goal and an assist. This weekend is tryouts for the high school team. Cross your fingers, he's really hoping to play Varsity this year. He's hoping to play Varsity only, or both Varsity and JV full time. He's been working really hard and I'm really crossing my fingers that it pays off for him.

End of the marking period was Monday so he's on to the 2nd one now. Drivers ed started on Tuesday and he'll be getting his permit after this marking period and he passes the written test. Report cards should be out some time next week and he's feeling pretty good about it. I can't believe he'll be 16 on the 22nd.... where did time go????? He'll always be my baby!
Back to the piles and piles of work I need to get done. Have a great day!

TGIF!!!!

Wow, it's been a while since I did a post other than ads. It's been crazy busy at the Oliver household (ok, so it's almost aways crazy... but this is outside the normal realm of our typical crazy). The hockey travel team season is winding down and we are gearing up for the high school season. This is our last weekend of travel games until end of February/beginning March. We are hoping to resume for couple of practices and games prior to going to Tournament on March 13th. High School tryouts are next weekend (15th & 16th ... cross your fingers for Ollie!) and we'll find out then if he's playing JV, Varsity or both. There will probably be some captain's practices this week but we haven't gotten that schedule yet.

I'm running on empty this week as we've been to bed very late every night for one reason or another. I'm hoping to sleep in a little tomorrow morning, but we've got errands so I'm not sure it's going to happen.

I've been working a little at the time on converting all our sides and negatives to digital format. We have tons so I don't know if I'll ever get it all done, but I'm sure going to try. Haven't exactly figured out how I'm going to organize them yet.

Here's the first picture ever taken of Ollie. He's probably about 4-6 hours old in this photo (early morning, November 23, 1992). I'm so thrilled to get these digital so I can scrap with them!

I'll have to share other cute ones as I get them done. I've got pictures from last weekends games that need to be downloaded too. I think I need a duplicate of me to get some of these projects done!

Ok, back to the crazy busy list of things to get done. Have a great Friday!

TGIF!!!!

Where does the time go???? It's been insanely busy lately and I've been running around like a crazy woman (yeah yeah... that's nothing new I know).

Ollie has dryland training 5 days a week after school. I have to rush from work every day to take his weight vest, gloves and stick ... and pick up his backpack. Then it's the "when is he going to call to come home" waiting game. It's hard to get too involved in cooking dinner etc. not knowing when you are going to have to dash out the door. Good news is around 2-3 more weeks and then it will be tryouts/practices and then games. The dryland will slow a bit. I think he'll be glad to come home from school once in a while and get a chance to walk home with Nicole. Although I've seen the preliminary schedule for JV and Varsity.... they are insane... if he's playing both then he's going to be a very busy kiddo!

I'm about 80% done with a new kit called "Little Witch Spells". It's super cute and fun for Halloween. I'm hoping to finish up in the next couple of days (depending on the weekend schedule).

I've got a ton of apples that still need to get used up. I'm going to try peeling and slicing some up for pies and crisps and freezing them to see how they do. I need to make more applesauce which freezes nicely. AND since I have a huge new freezer, better start filling it up as soon as hubby wires me a new outlet for it in the basement and I can plug it in.

Better get back to work..... lots to get done.

Have a great weekend!
